EDUCATIONAL TOUR TO ISRAEL – THE HOLY LAND
Day 1 Wednesday 2nd December London – Haifa
Depart London Heathrow on El Al scheduled services – meeting and assistance at Ben Gurion Airport where we shall meet our guide, who will escort throughout our journey, and drive up the Mediterranean coastal road northwards to the port city of Haifa. Overnight in Haifa
Day 2 Thursday 3rd December Haifa – Tiberias
After breakfast visit the Bhai Gardens and drive to the Crusader Port of Acre – Capital of the Crusader Kingdom after the fall of Jerusalem – onwards to Nazareth, Cana and overnight Tiberias
Day 3 Friday 4th December Sea of Galilee
Drive to Nof Ginossar; visit the ancient first century fishing boat. Take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum, centre of Jesus’ Ministry. Located here are the ruins of an ancient synagogue and the site of Peter’s house. Proceed to Tabgha, the site of the Miracle of the Loaves and Fish and see the fish mosaic from the 5th century Byzantine basilica. Drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the “Sermon on the Mount”. Overnight Tiberias
Day 4 Saturday 5th December Tiberias – Jerusalem
Depart Tiberias. Drive to Yardenit on the shores of the Jordan River and renew Baptismal promises. Visit Mt. Tabor site of the Transfiguration. Drive through the Jordan Valley to Jericho, the oldest and lowest inhabited city in the world. On the way to Jerusalem, drive to Bethany the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. We ascend the Judean Hills to reach Jerusalem for overnight stay
Day 5 Sunday 6th December City of Jerusalem – Bethlehem
Tour the New City of Jerusalem beginning with the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed as well as at the Holy Land model to see the scale model of ancient Jerusalem in the time of the Second Temple. Continue to the Yad Vashem Memorial to the Holocaust and this afternoon drive to Manger Square in Bethlehem* visit the Church of the Nativity, the milk grotto
Day 6 Monday 7th December Dead Sea
Depart Jerusalem and descend the Judean Wilderness, via the Inn of the Good Samaritan, to the lowest place on earth-the Dead Sea. Drive along the shore to Masada and ascend by cable car. Tour this mountain top fortress, which was the last stronghold of the Jews against the Romans. Drive to a nearby oasis and relax and enjoy an opportunity to “ float” in the Dead Sea. Before returning to Jerusalem, visit the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
Day 7 Tuesday 8th DecemberOld City of Jerusalem
Begin the day’s tour on the Mount of Olives for a breathtaking view of the entire city. Walk down the traditional Palm Sunday route to the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane. Continue by foot in the Walled City. In the Jewish Quarter see the Cardo and Western Wall. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount. In the Christian Quarter visit St. Ann’s Crusader Church, Ecce Homo (Lithostrotos), Antonia Fortress and walk the Via Dolorosa ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. End the tour and the day at the Garden Tomb (Gordon’s Calvary).
Day 8 Wednesday 9th December Israel – UK
Early departure for Ben Gurion Airport for our return flight to London Heathrow
Our educational tours programme is designed for clergy and lay leaders, who have every intention of one day leading their own pilgrimage tour with our company. Our tours are packed with content and are not intend to be pilgrimage per say. The price is heavily subsidised and the basic cost is refunded to the participants when he/she takes out their own pilgrimage.
We allow the participant to take with them a spouse/ companion, as long as they share the same room.
