DAY 1 – UK – Israel
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, where our local representatives, Diesenhaus – Unitours will help you with formalities. Transfer to hotel for overnight stay in Tel Aviv

 

DAY 2 – Tel Aviv – Galilee
Depart hotel and visit Jaffa, an ancient port city and picturesque artists’ quarter. Drive along the coastal road to Caesarea and view the ruins of this Roman and Crusader stronghold. Continue to the Habonim Beach Nature Reserve and begin an exciting off-the-road bike tour. Along the way visit a kibbutz, an ancient quarry, fish ponds and ruins of the ancient city of Dor. Re-board the bus and travel to a Druze Village for home hospitality. Later drive too quiet coastal area where expert guides will give paragliding instructions followed by an actual flight.

DAY 3 – Galilee
This morning drive to the Upper Galilee and try white river rafting down the Jordan River. Once you have regained your land legs, drive to Mt. Arbel. Reach the topby foot o by donkey. The view from the observation point is spectacular – the Sea of Galilee, Golan Heights, Mt. Hermon and the Galilee Mountains. Descend on foot on a more adventurous trail using pegs fixed into the rock for this purpose. Drive to Safed for a tour of this quaint artist’s village high in the mountains.

DAY 4 – Galilee – Jerusalem
Begin the day with a jeep tour of the Golan Heights ending at Gamla, an ancient Jewish city first inhabited in the Bronze Age. Hike through the ruins and see vulture nests in the cliffs, domens (basalt stone tables) dating back to the Bronze Age and the highest waterfall in Israel. After the hike, continue to Beit Shean, where excavations have revealed 18 levels of history. Drive to Gan Hashlosha (Sachne) and swim in the warm, natural spring waters.

DAY 5 – Jerusalem
Today we start with Jerusalem, beginning on the Mount of Olives for a breath taking view of the entire city. Drive via the Kidron Valley to Mt. Zion and take a walking tour of the Walled City. In the Jewish Quarter see the Cardo, Herodian Mansions and Western Wall. Take part in a special seminar with archaeologists exploring ancient Old City water systems and Hezekiah’s Tunnel. Continue through the winding streets of the market and visit the Tower of David Museum. Later this afternoon, take a panoramic flight over Jerusalem. See the entire city at a glance from Bethlehem to the Judean Hills and the Judean Desert.

DAY 6 – Jerusalem – Dead Sea – Jerusalem
This morning visit the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum. Continue to Yad Vashem Memorial to the Holocaust. After lunch descend the Judean Hills and take an exhilarating jeep tour through the Judean desert.

DAY 7 – Dead Sea
Today’s program will include one of the highlights of the tour – a walk up the snake path that leads to Masada. Visit the impressive ruins including Herod’s palace, residential and storage buildings, a synagogue and bath house. After coming back down from the mountain continue by bus to a nearby site to try rappelling. Experts will give instructions and assist. The instructor will also teach the skills necessary for rock climbing.

DAY 8 – Dead Sea – Sde Boker – Avdat – Eilat
Drive through the Negev Desert to Sde Boker and Ein Avdat. Hike through this canyon where the springs feed the vegetation uncommon in the Negev. Drive through the mountaintop city of Avdat and explore the ruins of this 4th century BC city. Continue to the Ramon Crater. A special desert guide will explain the geological structure. Take a short walking tour and see the many giant fossils that lived in the ancient sea some 80 million years ago.

DAY 9 – Eilat
Enjoy a day of water sports in the Red Sea. Introductory scuba diving lessons are available as well as the opportunity to take a swim with the dolphins. Additional sports offered include para-sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, pedal boating, ocean kayaking as well as sailing in small boats and catamarans. If you prefer to relax, then take a glass bottom cruise.

DAY 10 – Eilat – Desert
Depart Eilat by jeep and spend the day in the nearby mountains. Drive past carved creeks and ever changing scenery and hidden springs. Ladders and ropes will be provided for a descent into a beautiful gorge. Return to the jeeps and continue through the Arava to Ma’ale Shacharut Desert centre located on a mountaintop. In an authentically decorated Beduin tent, learn abouth desert customs, traditions and hospitality. Participate in a traditional coffee and handwashing ceremony followed by a desert feast. Beduin musicians will entertain.
Overnight stay in the Desert.

 

DAY 11 – Desert – Tel Aviv
Today’s activities will start with a camel trek paced for a comfortable and tranquil ride. Stop en-route to learn about desert plants and their uses – cosmetic, medicinal and spices. Lunch will be picnic style. Return to the Khan where the buses will be waiting to take you back to Tel Aviv

DAY 12 – Israel – UK
Leave Tel Aviv and transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your flight home to the UK.
